[From Chubby Kid to Ripped] Central Intelligence [Impressions & Review]
Hello!
I’ve been moving the blog over from Hatena Blog to WordPress, so I couldn’t post for a bit lol
This time I’m reviewing this one, which has just turned up on rental!

Synopsis
Calvin (Kevin Hart) was a superstar back in high school, but today he’s an unremarkable middle-aged accountant. Then out of nowhere he hears from Bob (Dwayne Johnson), the chubby kid who was bullied back then, asking to meet up for the first time in 20 years. He grudgingly goes along, and the man who appears in front of him has transformed into a wall of muscle! On top of that Bob is actually CIA, framed and on the run from his own agency, and he says he desperately needs Calvin’s help. Somehow Calvin ends up fleeing alongside him. Can this man really be trusted? And just who on earth is Bob—?

Impressions & Review

Bob, who used to be overweight and got bullied for it.
And the bullying goes as far as him being dumped stark naked in front of a crowd.
The bit where Calvin, the popular Black kid, was the only one to step in and help him — that was lovely lol

But 20 years on, even though Calvin was the success story in high school, now he’s a fairly unimpressive office worker.
And into his life walks Bob, who has turned seriously jacked lol

And on top of that he’d become CIA lol
But apparently Bob is currently a wanted man, hunted as a traitor to the CIA.
Whether this Bob is an unhinged terrorist or an agent being chased over a crime he didn’t commit stays vague from start to finish, and wondering whether this guy might be seriously dangerous had me laughing a lot.
Let me say it up front, this film is a comedy lol
But there’s a bit of setup and payoff in there, and the way Bob and Calvin settle things maybe even moved me a little… lol
Recommended for anyone who kinda~ feels like watching something entertaining. It goes down easy.
Also, a sequel please
