After finishing episode 3
A sudden turn
I think episode 3 threw up a ton of Wanda-is-the-villain theories.
The bit where Vision gets rewound especially, and the scene at the end where Geraldine is thrown out — those feel like the clinchers.
But as I said in the episode 1 & 2 review, I’m backing the theory that Wanda has been egged on by AIM and that S.W.O.R.D. and the Avengers side are trying to save her!
*Most important* A town of nothing but married couples
The residents of that town in WandaVision all have a “house” and a “family (a wife or a husband),” as in the list below.
- Phil and Dottie
- Herb and Agnes
- Stan and the lady in the blue classic car
And so on
And Herb hints that having a “house” and a “family (a wife or a husband)” is the condition for being in that world.
What’s a mystery here is what Wanda is after. I’m putting forward three theories this time.
- She has abducted and taken control of other people so she can play at being an ordinary married couple with a doll modelled on the dead Vision. If that were it, though, Wanda could simply have set the restriction herself so that neither she nor Vision can use magic or powers, so the setup of living in a way that keeps the powers from being found out doesn’t really make sense. And a life like that is far too empty anyway.
- As I said in the episode 1 & 2 review, that world wasn’t made by Wanda but is somewhere like the afterlife. She’s playing sitcom to get Vision back. Since it isn’t a world Wanda made, it explains why her power doesn’t reach everything, but it doesn’t explain why it’s all married couples
- New one: similar to theory 2, but instead of somewhere like the afterlife it’s a gap between the multiverses. It’s a meta reading, but it also connects to Doctor Strange 2. This theory too explains why Wanda’s power doesn’t reach everything, since it isn’t a world she made, but again it doesn’t explain why it’s all married couples
And as for the key to Vision coming back: episodes 1 to 3 have covered the proposal, newlywed life, pregnancy and birth, so episodes 4 to 7 would cover raising the kids (early childhood), raising the kids (teenage years), the empty nest and retirement, and old age — and reaching that old age is what brings Vision back to life. Reincarnation, in other words. That could be it. Wild, obviously lol
Who Geraldine really is
Geraldine’s necklace is unmistakably the S.W.O.R.D. logo. I wrote about S.W.O.R.D. in the episode 1 & 2 review.
She’s obviously a S.W.O.R.D. agent, and going by her reaction when she asks Wanda about Pietro in that gentle way, the chances of her being on our side look high. She got herself inside, but being single and having no house turned out to be fatal. She’d been around since episode 2, and yet she turned out to be an agent — that was a surprise.
Pietro back from the dead?
Marvel have got the film rights to the X-Men back, so the chances of Pietro (Quicksilver in the comics) appearing again are going up.
It would be lovely if his name coming up in episode 3 turns out to be major setup. Characters who move at high speed are pretty hard to handle, though, so I’d like them to look at shows like The Flash and land him somewhere that isn’t too strong or too weak!
If Quicksilver (Pietro) does come back, what form would it take? An illusion Wanda created (a vision, of all things)? Or the Pietro from the afterlife? Or a Pietro from the multiverse? Not long now until episode 4! Want to see it already!!!
