I’m going to write about the points worth flagging from episode 6 of the MCU series Hawkeye, which dropped on Wednesday 22 December, plus the analysis, the explainers, the Easter eggs and my predictions for what comes next. In particular I’ll be writing about whether the Kingpin from Daredevil is alive or dead, Agent 19 / Mockingbird, and what comes next for Kate and the rest!
This post runs briefly through the things that caught my eye on a first viewing and the Easter eggs, and then gets into the analysis.

My Spider-Man predictions are here!
Venom is over here!
I’ve started shooting all sorts of things for fun lately. The camera is a ZV-1 — shoot in RAW, edit in Lightroom, that kind of thing.
What I shot this time was the Hideaki Anno Exhibition.
Clint’s “you’re my partner” to Bishop means she’s finally been accepted, and that was really good. The scene where Clint gets Yelena to forgive him was excellent too — I think anyone who’s seen Black Widow will know what I mean — that whistle is used to great effect. And it was good that Yelena understood Clint had been connected to Natasha in his heart. At the end, thinking of Kate, left alone now that her mother has been arrested, and inviting her to the Christmas party was lovely as well. On top of that, the vigilante LARPers he brushed off at first now get his respect, for things like their superb suit-making — Clint had shut his heart away back in episode 1 of Hawkeye, so this was an episode where he grew a great deal. Really curious about where their relationship goes from here!
Dropping the tree, the owl making off with a truck, the relationship advice, the knock-off Eternals — loads of gag scenes and great fun! Though as you can tell from the first Ant-Man, I have a feeling shrinking down with a flesh-and-blood body did terrible things to the brain lol
The scene of them mass-producing trick arrows was very Iron Man and got me sooo excited!
The mother, Eleanor, was arrested and that was that, exactly as predicted… And you couldn’t really say the two of them are properly reconciled either. Whether she comes back as an enemy later on — really looking forward to that.
As for Kingpin, that has to be an outrageously big-name piece of casting. And wrapping up his story now feels far too early, so I don’t think he’s actually been killed yet.
Kazi and Echo (Maya) couldn’t bring their two ways of living together, and in the end they fought until one of them died… so sad…
Yelena and Clint making up was so good!
For the Ronin business I thought Clint might turn himself in to the police and atone for it, but no such thing lol Still, glad it ended on a bright note this time
Hitting an arrow with an arrow, flicking one away with a finger — all the things that had been set up came out here! So hot!!!
Never thought Kate would be the one to take down a villain as formidable as Kingpin! Amazing!!
Jack doesn’t seem to be a villain like the Swordsman of the comics at all — he looks no different from the LARPers, people who idolise heroes and train away every day! lol
This episode made me love Jack so much!
Just as predicted, that watch was a S.H.I.E.L.D. one! Though it would have been even better tied to Coulson or something Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.-related. I cried
She was Agent 19! In the comics her code name is Mockingbird (MOCKINGBIRD), and apparently she and Clint were something like lovers!
The post-credits scene had me laughing so hard lol The director’s smug face popping up here and there was great lol And the song got stuck in my head!
Had a look and it’s on Apple, so here it is!
An Echo series with Maya as the lead is apparently planned for the year after next! Personally I can’t believe Kingpin died here, so I’d love to see something like Maya and the Defenders taking on Kingpin~
In the comics Kingpin gets shot by Maya as well, but it seems he survived that.
In the comics Kate operates as the second Hawkeye! Which is to say, the premise there is that she isn’t working alongside the original, Clint — and yet this time Kate and Clint looked like they’ll be teaming up from here on!
So, as the end of the story showed, Kate needs a different code name rather than Hawkeye! Looking forward to it!
Hawkeye’s wife turns out to have been a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, and now that this has been brought up again, doesn’t that look like setup for Coulson and the rest to appear too!? lol
Would love them to turn up in Secret Invasion~
