The Marvels (Japanese title: “Marvels”) opened on Friday 10 November 2023, and this one is nothing but spoilers! A rundown of the film, plus analysis, Easter eggs and predictions for what comes next.

Summary
Post-credits and end credits first!! Way too much!! Young Avengers and the X-Men!???
Ahh, laughed so much lol
Goose’s eggs — the Flerken’s, rather — are gross, and everyone gets swallowed lol
The three Marvels talk things through properly, again and again, and that gives their closeness a solid foundation. Really liked that. At around 105 minutes it looked worryingly short at first. But they fight in all sorts of places, there are a fair number of characters, and every one of them gets the spotlight at some point. Nicely done!
Fury carries the guilt of having abandoned the search for a home for the Skrulls. Carol carries the guilt of the civil war and the environmental collapse caused by her destroying the Kree AI, the Supreme Intelligence. What these two, the founders of the Avengers, have in common never comes to the surface this time. But it might well have been the underlying theme. Carol and Fury were both alone all the way through the films and the shows, and now they have people they can actually talk to. Lovely~ Ah, but a little more about Talos would have been nice lol
And giving guilt as the reason Carol never came to Earth was a good call!
Dar-Benn, the villain, has motives you can sympathise with in places, and that makes her compelling! Pretending to cooperate with Carol and the others and then betraying them, too lol The way she dies is absolutely grim, mind lol
Want Carol turning up plenty more from here, and want to see these three bouncing off each other again! Marvels reunion, hurry up
End credits: Young Avengers
There’s a scene where Kamala invites Kate Bishop onto her team! It parodies the first Iron Man and made me laugh lol
This is almost 100% the Young Avengers!! Thrilling! Far too thrilling!
Besides Kate there are loads of candidates — America Chavez, Ironheart, Wanda’s children! Spider-Man is close in age, so maybe he joins too?

The X-Men finally show up!!!!
Insane!!!
The ones who turn up are Beast and a mysterious figure who looks exactly like Maria Rambeau!! A Maria variant appeared in Doctor Strange 2 as well, by the way, so this is the second one!
Beast saying Charles’s name (Professor X) was thrilling too!!
There are rumours the TVA shows up in Deadpool 3 as well, so the ties to 20th Century Fox look like they’ll only keep growing!!
A political marriage
Prince Yan of the planet Aladna and Carol turn out to be legally husband and wife! A political-marriage sort of thing lol
The people of Aladna holding conversations in song was great fun.
Carol’s singing voice is adorable and the absolute best. This kind of digging into Carol is something only The Marvels could do!
Did Prince Yan die after that? Is Carol a widow?? lol
Moving house
Looks like Carol Danvers has decided to live at Monica’s family home with Goose!
There’s a plate with her and Prince Yan on it inside one of the boxes, so the planet Aladna seems to have come through fine!
She won’t always be on Earth, but it’d be nice if she came by to help every now and then!
Where’s Kamala’s brother’s wife?
In Ms. Marvel, Kamala’s brother Aamir was at the family home for some reason, right? Family being culturally important makes sense, sure, but his wife Tyesha Hillman not being there was a mystery lol
He may as well have been single lol
Digging into how jump points work
The warp points keep coming up across the MCU, Guardians of the Galaxy first among them — and it seems they’re a by-product of whoever made that bangle carving routes right across the galaxy and the universe!
In Ms. Marvel it was the ClanDestine who made that bangle, so that makes them the ones who created these routes
Kamala can use her powers because she is ClanDestine and has a genetic anomaly (a mutant), by the way, and none of that gets touched on here lol What the ClanDestine actually are never gets cleared up in The Marvels either lol
Goose’s babies
Fury said Goose had got fat, so there was a bad feeling about it — but her being female and pregnant on top of that lol
The eggs are gross and I laughed lol
And the scene where Fury yells “not the right eye!” lol
What about Yon-Rogg??
Yon-Rogg was in the synopsis but he isn’t in the film lol
Is he alive?
Shang-Chi
Carol popped up briefly in Shang-Chi. That’s the bit where she and Banner are working out who made the Ten Rings. Right after that a message comes in and she vanishes — was that message from Fury? And does that message lead into the opening of The Marvels?
Valkyrie appears!
Valkyrie came to help through the Bifrost, to give the Skrulls somewhere to shelter!
That place is presumably New Asgard, which is on Earth to begin with, and Valkyrie and her people are refugees themselves lol
And the Bifrost — who is opening it?? So curious~
Cancer
Monica vanished in the snap, and when Maria’s cancer came back, was Maria alone through it? No — Carol did come and visit her… So this is where Goose got entrusted as well…
That scene was sad, but it was genuinely lovely…
