The fifth film at last!!

A sixth has already been confirmed, so I’d guess this one and the next are built as a single story across two films.

Some people will say they’re making too many of these — but I get to spend time in that world again, so I’m delighted!!

Angelica, the woman pirate from the previous film On Stranger Tides, apparently doesn’t appear in this one.

I’d assumed she’d turn up looking for revenge over her father Blackbeard, who Jack Sparrow killed — so that’s a surprise.

What to look out for

Let me run through the highlights!!

First and above all — Orlando Bloom is back as Will Turner, and Keira Knightley is back as Elizabeth Swann!!

This film’s villain: Captain Salazar, played by Javier Bardem.

Seriously creepy lol

Here’s what I find curious. In The Curse of the Black Pearl the enemies looked perfectly ordinary and only turned to skeletons in moonlight, and in Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End they looked like sea monsters.

This time round, they’re pale and washed out.

What kind of curse is it this time, I wonder?

And the film’s heroine.

I don’t think we’ve had a scientist in this series before.

There’s a real scientific streak to her, which feels fresh.

It also digs into Jack Sparrow’s past, which I’m looking forward to.

And finally, the story!! It’s from Wikipedia, so it might be wrong.

Story

Salazar, the Reaper of the Sea, has long wanted revenge on his old enemy Jack Sparrow. Escaping the Devil’s Triangle along with his crew of ghostly pirates, he sets out to wipe every pirate from the seas. To defeat Salazar, Jack Sparrow goes searching for the artefact that breaks every curse — the Trident of Poseidon — and for the last pirate.

Looks like “curses” is the keyword.

And Poseidon seems set to turn up as well.
