[For newcomers] What Is the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe)? [MARVEL]

Hello!

There have been a lot of movies with Iron Man and Captain America in them lately.

You may well have heard the words “Marvel” and “Avengers” too… or maybe not!

Today I’m writing about my favourite film universe of all: the MCU.

What is the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe)?

First things first — American comics have two giant publishers.

DC and Marvel.

Think Shueisha and Kodansha, if you’re in Japan.

The MCU is the plan to take the comics that belong to Marvel and turn them into films, one after another!!

And here’s the amazing part — every film made under the MCU banner shares the same continuity.

That said, you absolutely do not have to watch all of them.

Personally I love every one of them, so of course I’d recommend it!

And on top of that! There was a Marvel exhibition running at Roppongi Hills at the time of writing.

It had a lot of pieces on display, including props used in the films, so if that sounds like your thing, do go!

Finally, the viewing order. Release order is the safe bet.

That said, I think you can enjoy Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man perfectly well without having seen anything else!
