There are several things about Agatha that nag at me, so I’ll write them up!
Right now the MCU has the good sorcery and the dark sorcery from Doctor Strange, plus the magic of Wanda and Agatha. The Thor material looks like magic, but I think of it as extremely advanced science. Oh, though the Bifrost and so on is magic.
The source of each power:
A technique handed down from ancient times for accessing the “multiverse” and drawing out enormous power. It is made up of incantations and gestures; sorcerers focus their thoughts through the incantation and their bodies through the gesture, and by controlling the soul they can make thought into reality.

Accessing the “multiverse” is the key bit here.
For what it’s worth, when Doctor Strange worked sorcery using the Time Stone the effect was green.
Sorcery originating in the Dark Dimension. Under the influence of the Dark Dimension’s power, users of this sorcery have Dormammu’s sigil surface in red on their foreheads, and the skin around their eyes cracks black.

The key point is that the source of the power is the Dark Dimension, where Dormammu lives
Magic with a red effect, acquired through Strucker’s experiments with the Mind Stone in Age of Ultron. It can do psychic attacks, telekinesis and so on. Her eyes glow red as well.
Magic with a purple effect, capable of psychic attacks and telekinesis. Plus creating the FOX version of Pietro. So far it’s pretty similar to Wanda’s.
I’ve summed up magic and sorcery below. For the sake of the theory that follows, I’ve also added a few characters who aren’t described as sorcerers or witches.

First off, I’ve been writing magic and sorcery as two separate things, but Japanese has two words where English only has “magic,” so there’s probably no distinction being drawn by name. Setting dark sorcery aside for the moment, since its power comes from a special other dimension, every kind of magic and sorcery here has an effect colour that matches an Infinity Stone.
For what it’s worth, Thanos says at the start of Endgame that he destroyed the Infinity Stones, but that doesn’t mean they stopped existing.
Which means! The source of magic and sorcery is the Infinity Stones!!!!! So Agatha maps to the Power Stone, Wanda to the Reality Stone, and Strange and company to the Soul Stone (sometimes the Time Stone)!!
Is what I’d like to say, except there are a few puzzles in it as well.
Things like that. With all of that in mind, here’s my own attempt at the difference between Doctor Strange and his lot and Wanda, Agatha, Captain Marvel, Monica, Pietro and Vision.
Sorcerers like Doctor Strange and company use techniques that access the “multiverse” and draw out enormous power. So an ordinary human can do it too, as long as they have the skill. And since they can turn themselves and other people into astral forms, their power comes from the Soul Stone side of things, which specialises in interfering with the soul
The magic of Wanda, Agatha, Captain Marvel, Monica and Pietro is acquired when the very structure of their bodies is changed by human experimentation, accidents and so on. That change lets them access the Infinity Stones and use one of the powers. That said, as with the colour wheel above, they can also use a little of the power of a stone whose colour sits nearby. Which is why Wanda and Agatha can use similar powers. And, as with Wanda and Pietro, gaining power through a particular Infinity Stone doesn’t necessarily mean the power matches that stone. A defining trait of theirs is that their eyes glow when they use it. Finally, Captain Marvel is a special case, glowing because she’s connected to several Infinity Stones. Vision is an exception, being a synthezoid.
Something like that.

Isn’t the book in Agatha’s house the Darkhold? This is the indestructible, evil book that appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4. Read it and it hands you things like the ability to create matter out of nothing, or to open doors into other dimensions — ridiculous power. Although at the end of season 4 Ghost Rider took the thing off into another dimension, didn’t he… lol
The design in the show was the one above, but it’s such a monstrous book that a change of look is fair enough lol
As above, the Darkhold and Ghost Rider are closely tied, so if that book is the Darkhold, him turning up again looks possible.
Details are in the other posts, but this blog has been saying that Hayward is an AIM agent, that Agatha is being held by AIM, and that Agatha would help Wanda in order to save herself — and watching episode 7, that’s apparently not it lol An MCU this rewarding to theorise about is honestly the best.
Watching Hayward’s scenes, this Maximoff Anomaly seems to have been outside his own plans, and what he was really doing, by the looks of it, was quietly studying Vision, bringing him back and trying to use him as an AI weapon.
Agatha, on the other hand, looks to have had this whole Maximoff Anomaly go exactly to plan. So maybe the two of them aren’t connected after all? In which case the hexagons are something Agatha is using deliberately. Meaning Agatha is the AIM agent? Or meaning the hexagons aren’t hinting at AIM at all? This is difficult…
Right, time to work out what Agatha wants.
Here it is!! Bringing the Infinity Stones back, and abducting a large number of children including Wanda and Vision’s.
The Infinity Stones part is probably so she can get hold of them herself. Until now other planets and gods have held them, but bring them back on Earth right now and she has them in an instant. So how would she bring the Infinity Stones back? Presumably by sending Wanda’s power out of control, pulling her to her limit and using that. So my guess is that Agatha is exploiting the fact that Wanda’s power depends on her own mental state, and trapping her inside WandaVision, a show designed to grind her down psychologically.
Pretty sure the scene above hasn’t turned up yet, so episode 8 might be Vision versus a controlled Wanda.
Now the abduction of the children. As for why Agatha would want to take children in the first place, presumably eating them boosts her power and makes her young again. The eating idea comes from her answering in the episode 7 interview that she’d bitten someone once. And on the power boost and the rejuvenation — there was a cicada when Wanda came to Agatha’s house, remember.
Cicadas are known for burrowing into the earth and coming back out. And since this is an American show, I think the crew brought it in with the Chinese tradition of resurrection and coming back to life in mind, rather than as the fragile insect that only lives a week. That time under the earth stands for Agatha hiding her identity and lying low from episode 1 through episode 7. And children means “young, small.” So my read is that the cicada is quietly telling us Agatha abducted the children in order to make herself young again, or to ascend as a living being.
So presumably she’s thinking that if she gets Wanda to have children with Vision, she lucks into some seriously powerful children.
Agatha created, or perhaps summoned, the FOX version of Pietro in order to throw Wanda off. The important bit here is why she brought the FOX version over, and by what means.
On the means, the strongest theory is that Agatha used the Darkhold to open the multiverse. As for why she brought the FOX Pietro over, was it a deliberate choice of a figure nobody can quite place, in order to destabilise Wanda? Or she used the real FOX Pietro as a reference and created a fake FOX Pietro.
The person interviewing Wanda (and presumably Vision as well) was Agatha. So who was interviewing Agatha? lol
During Wanda’s interview she asks
and that must have been to push her further into a corner, surely? Chilling.
The tree roots down in the basement of Agatha’s house are hard to make sense of too. There’s a chance their appearance has been changed by Wanda’s power as well. A guess: they’re electrical cables, and that basement is a huge research facility? Which might even mean Agatha isn’t a witch at all, just an AIM scientist.
There are other theories doing the rounds about Agatha as well. One is that she’s an Agatha from another dimension. It comes from the fact that in the comics Agatha Harkness is nominally Wanda’s mentor, so having her appear as a villain felt off. So the Agatha in WandaVision might be an evil Agatha who came over from another dimension.
Episode 7 makes it clear that Agatha planned all of it. Here’s what that covers:
And so on. This blog has predictions out on plenty of the above, so here’s hoping episodes 8 and 9 clear them up.
Monica’s eyes and Vision’s eyes are the same blue. Does that mean hers comes from the Mind Stone? Hmm, a mystery.
And even though she was a warrior of light in the comics, this time she’s a blue one.
No idea whether it’s connected, but the Mind Stone was originally inside Loki’s sceptre. That sceptre could control people, and the people being controlled get blue eyes, like this.
Hmm, still a mystery.
