Episode 3 of the MCU series Hawkeye landed on Wednesday 1 December — the points worth flagging, the analysis, the Easter eggs, and predictions for where all of this goes next. The Kingpin setup especially, plus the pile of trick arrows we finally got this time! And a round-up of every thread still left hanging at the end.

Started photographing all sorts of things for fun recently. Camera is a ZV-1, shooting RAW and editing in Lightroom.
This time it was the Hideaki Anno Exhibition.
So the character who turned up at the end of episode 2 was Echo after all!
Her right leg is a prosthetic. Will we get told how that happened? Or was she born that way? Great to finally learn the history between her and Clint here. The thing to watch is how she settles the score with Clint in this series. And how that feeds into her own show, Echo.
And Echo’s uncle is obviously Kingpin, right! It could just about be Jack, but I’ll get into that in the analysis section later in this post!
Finally getting to see the full spread of Hawkeye’s arrows was the best!! And the Pym Particle arrow being in there suggests he’s still working with Hank Pym and the rest of them. Lovely!
The costume Kate sketches out is the comics costume down to the last detail — that got me laughing lol
Episode 3 and the two of them finally come face to face! Is Jack Clint’s older brother, or his mentor, just like I predicted after episode 2? And does he end up as Swordsman? Watch this space.
Echo’s uncle — a lot of fans are saying that figure in the suit is Kingpin. In the comics he was Echo’s adoptive father, and it turned out he was the one who killed her real father and had been lying to her the whole time. Take that into account and the odds on the man in the suit being Kingpin are pretty high.
Kingpin has been adapted on screen plenty of times — from the left in the image above, the Netflix Daredevil series, Into the Spider-Verse, the animated show. Probably a familiar face to a lot of people.
The Netflix Daredevil is nominally MCU, but Disney apparently had very little to do with it, so nobody is quite sure any more whether it counts or not. And now it might finally get promoted to canon!
On top of that, the actor who played Kingpin in the Netflix show posted the very pointed tweet above on the day episode 3 dropped, which is another reason fans are in uproar.
There’s probably also a theory out there that the man in the suit is Jack.
His background in the comics is below.
The king of the underworld, the man who runs organised crime in New York. He is enormous, but not simply fat — the body that looks like a lump of blubber is in fact a lump of extraordinary muscle. That gives him raw strength at the very top of the human range.
He mostly comes up against New York crime fighters such as Spider-Man and Daredevil, and he is one of their oldest and greatest enemies. He has hired assassins including Bullseye and Elektra.
He has driven Daredevil into the ground mentally, physically and socially (Born Again), and even while behind bars he hired a killer to murder Spider-Man’s Aunt May (from Civil War through One More Day).
