Episode 4 of the MCU series Hawkeye landed on Wednesday 8 December — the points worth flagging, the analysis, the Easter eggs, and predictions for where all of this goes next. The Kingpin-from-Daredevil setup especially, plus the mystery of the watch, Kate’s mother and her suspicious little moves, and Yelena!
This post runs quickly through the things that stood out on a first viewing and the Easter eggs, and then gets into the analysis.

Started photographing all sorts of things for fun recently. Camera is a ZV-1, shooting RAW and editing in Lightroom.
This time it was the Hideaki Anno Exhibition.
That first shot is where it comes out that Clint has children, but then there’s a list of Clint’s family sitting in Echo’s place afterwards, which really does look like Eleanor Bishop pulling the strings behind everything.
And there’s a call to somebody in this scene as well… Val on the other end? Or Kingpin?
The backer of the tracksuit crew — the Tracksuit Mafia, properly — turned out to be Jack.
So is he one of the ones pulling the strings too, after all…
Out of nowhere, the cosplay vigilantes, the LARPers, are back! lol
Lovely that they keep supplying the laughs in a show whose subject matter could get so heavy.
So the Ronin thing is out now.
Pretty low-key way for it to come out lol
Was expecting something a lot more sensational lol
Plenty of laughs again this time — the bag turning out to be a personal one, getting stuck halfway along the zipline, the mix-up that makes it look like he’s off in a daydream talking to the Avengers.
Finally here! The one who sent her this way is Val, but Clint said somebody had hired a Black Widow, so does that mean there’s another person behind her? Kate’s mother after all?
Next week will be the Yelena story, presumably.
Apparently something enormous happens in episode 5! This has to be Kingpin, surely? Full details in the episode 3 review!
What Clint says about this watch is “that person is retired now, but it would expose their identity.” So here are the characters who currently fit that.
Something along those lines? Want it cleared up soon!
The threads Hawkeye still has hanging look like this.
• How Jack (Swordsman) ties into everything
• Who the murderer is (my money is on the mother)
• Clint’s atonement
• How Echo comes to forgive (she has her own show coming, so she surely can’t end up just a creature of revenge)
• Settling things with Natasha’s sister Yelena
Two episodes to go! Desperate to know where it heads from episode 5!
